Help! Need content for new website!

Your new business website is on the horizon.

You’ve hired a web developer/agency, signed off the design and the build is coming along nicely.

You’re getting ready to tick that whopping ‘sort website’ off your to-do list. It’s been a long time coming. BRING IT ON.

That is, until…

“We’re making good progress. Now, all we need is for you to send over the website content” – they say.

I thought it was included as part of the website build?” you say.

“No – ’fraid not” they say, looking slightly puzzled/concerned. “So, when can you have it over to us?”

Panic sets in. “Help! I need content for my new website…and I need it ASAP!” 

It’s decision-making time.

You have three options –

  1. Pull together whatever content you can – it’ll have to do
  2. Give up – the website will just have to wait
  3. Hire someone to write it for you *hint hint*

Pull together whatever content you can

You could try and cobble together some content just to get it over the line – you’re an expert at what you do after all, so it shouldn’t be too difficult? But no matter how hard you try, the words just aren’t flowing and it’s eating into precious time, taking you away from running the business. You realise this writing malarkey is much harder than you ever imagined, and you know you’re not doing your business justice. Frustrating.

You could try and pull together the content – but if it fails to interest and attract your target audience, you might as well leave it as a blank website.

Okay, that doesn’t sound much of an option. What about option two, then?

Give up and put the website on hold

Realising that you haven’t got the time or patience, you could put the whole project on the backburner for a while. It’s an easy option after all. You’ll sort it later.

Then again, you’re so close to seeing your website go live – it would be a shame to see it go to waste. And let’s face it – the longer you leave it, the harder it is to revisit.

But think of all the potential sales you’d miss out on – you know the value of having a website. And of course, you can’t forget about the money you’ve already spent on this investment!

No, that doesn’t sound a good option either. So, that leaves us with one more option… *fingers crossed*

Hire someone to write it for you

You could outsource it to someone who writes for a living. Someone who knows how to write engaging content in a tone of voice that resonates with your target audience. Someone who knows how to encourage your target audience to do what you want them to. That someone? A skilled copywriter. Sometimes called a content writer too.

Okay, okay – I know I’m biased, but outsourcing it to a copywriting expert will save you time and frustration, AND you can rest assured that your website content will be written with purpose and clarity. Not cobbled together. Not ignored.

Now that sounds better, doesn’t it?
